containR turns bleak space into public meeting place

A kaleidoscope of theatre, cinema, dance and performing arts travelling in a nomadic gallery caravan camped out on East Village on RiverWalk Plaza at 5th Street and Confluence Way SE — and runs October 10 to October 21, 2012, with a pop up satellite containR on Calgary streets for Culture Days September 28-30.

Fluid Festival redefines the concept of shipping containers — a standardized industrial construction that connects countries and continents, linking ideas, trade and people around the globe. At the Fluid Festival, the recycled containers become containR, connecting communities through art. containR sits at the crossroads of urban culture and contemporary creation, embracing public art and sustainable design. Using green design, industrial utility metamorphoses into performance space offering a continuously transforming rotation of art in our city.

After its successful launch at the Vancouver Winter Olympics — where 25,000 people took in the performances — containR traverses the mountains to Calgary’s East Village on RiverWalk Plaza at 5th Street and Confluence Way SE , within walking distance of our festival theatres.

We’re launching containR Calgary with a pop up satellite containR during Culture Days, September 28–30. Over the two weeks the Fluid Festival and our friends and partners are presenting more than 100 free and ticketed events from around the world and around the block on the containR site. Take the plunge. Be Calgary. Experience containR — during lunch, after work or in the evening. Expect the unexpected at the Fluid Festival.
