"Technically sophisticated, conceptually fascinating...disquieting as only the best art can be"

— The New York Times

What can dance do that history books can’t? In his new work, World Fair, Rachid Ouramdane attempts to address the connection between the human body and the political ideologies we create. No society has developed itself without the use of art as a means to build a national identity. The aesthetics of politics transforms the way we see ourselves, providing us with the image of the stable, unchanging body — when in fact, the body is a fragile, mortal form.

French artist Rachid Ouramdane is at the forefront of Europe’s new generation of conceptual dance-thinkers and performers, who are bringing vital new ideas to the stage, mixing dance, documentary and multimedia art. His performances probe the emotional and imaginary worlds of whomever he encounters and are full of poetic and compelling images.
