With the goal of creating and sustaining a vibrant community for all Calgarians, the University of Calgary’s Wagonstage Children’s Theatre has performed and uplifted families through both good times and bad times. Children ages 3-12 and their families are welcome to enjoy a performance that will make them giggle and wiggle. COVID-19 has changed the lives of Calgary’s children and just like when the flood came in 2013 or the fires in Ft. McMurray displaced children to Calgary, Wagonstage will provide laughter and lighthearted fun. We are turning pandemic to FUNdemic with all the necessary precautions to ensure safe and healthy fun.

This year’s short plays haven been written, designed, and directed by MFA students, and will be performed by undergraduate drama students at the ContainR site and in City of Calgary parks. You can find the troupe performing at the Sunnyside ContainR (1020 2 Ave NW) every Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and every Thursday at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. from July 26 to August 30. Please note that performances are weather permitting —check out the SCPA’s Facebook page for any cancellations or our containR Instagram. Performances will also happen throughout the summer in select City of Calgary parks —keep an eye out for Wagonstage Children’s Theatre in your community.

Please note that registration for this event is required here. The first ten families to register will be guaranteed a spot. Admission is “Pay What You Want” following the performance. For more information, please visit https://scpa.ucalgary.ca/wagonstage

All performances will be in full compliance with the public health restrictions implemented by the Government of Alberta and the City of Calgary. The University of Calgary is taking a cautionary approach for the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors. Each decision that we make is based on factual information, advice and guidance from our health and emergency experts on campus, and through our consultations with the various agencies.
